  • On February 24th, the students at Barbara Bush Middle School participated in a school-wide assembly to commemorate Black History Month. Various theater students dressed up and spoke as prominent figures in History including Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey. Other students chose to learn songs and sing for the assembly in between talks. Art students created "Face Jugs that have historical significance from early American history. All of the students were taught by the guest speaker, Mrs. Dionne Williams, Engineering Manager at Lockheed Martin. She spoke to the students about how she earned her multiple degrees and how she kept working on things that are important to her. The assembly was a wonderful way to cap off our learning about many of the important contributions made by African-Americans throughout history

  • The 8th Grade Bronco Lead Group of Barbara Bush middle School attended a very special field trip to Citi Corp. in Irving. This large facility houses 5000 employees and mans a 24 hour call center for banking customers from all over the world. Also at this facility, there are Scrum teams who work together to develop new mobile technology for Citi and are constantly developing new ways to keep their banking customers satisfied. The students visited the call center, the fitness center, and learned about the importance of having a positive digital footprint, now and in the future. They learned about Citi's commitment to community volunteering and about various careers that can be pursued as an employee of this large corporation. Thanks to Citi for hosting them and to these leaders for representing Barbara Bush Middle School so well!

  • Congratulations to these IB Scholars at Barbara Bush Middle School! They have been recognized by their teachers as being principled students. According to the International Baccalaureate, principled people act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. They take responsibility for their actions and their consequences. These students enjoyed lunch with one of our community leaders, Mr. Dany Smith. He talked with the students about his college career, some of the 28 patents that he holds, and how he is principled in his daily work as a designer for Toyota. Congratulations to all of these Learner Profile Leaders!

  • This past weekend, Barbara Bush students participated in the African-American Male Academic Bowl. They had a great time! A few of our teams advanced to additional rounds, but did not move to the championship rounds. Even though they did not move on, they had a great time and gained a great experience. A very special thank you to Ms. Grider and Mrs. Bose for not only their help in preparing the boys, but in helping on Saturday! Way to go, Broncos!

  • As an IB World School, Barbara Bush Middle School has been fortunate to have teachers from Ewha University, observing and teaching our students for the last few days. Coming all the way from Seoul, South Korea, we have learned about their language, their history and their culture. Other student teachers have been observing and teaching at Las Colinas Elementary and Ranchview High School. We applaud these young ladies for being risk-takers by teaching about many diverse topics in their second language.

  • The Student Council at Barbara Bush IB World School have been hard at work collecting food for the North Texas Food Bank. By making daily announcements and having a grade level challenge, the students collected 200 food items to deliver just in time for the holiday break. The fine arts department made extra challenges to their students to bring in food items. An online donation campaign was also set up so that parents and community members could go online and donate in the name of Barbara Bush Middle School. Thanks to all who participated in this drive, and thanks to the Student Council for completing some excellent service to their community!

  • At Barbara Bush Middle School, these IB students are caring and principled when it comes to giving to others. This group is called “Bronco Lead”, and they took it upon themselves to raise money for an Angel Tree. They collected donations ranging from pennies to $200 from their own family members, teachers and students, during lunch and morning tutorials. Together, they raised $600 to “adopt” eight needy students right here at Bush Middle School. Each student will receive books, clothing and a fun item that was on their wish list. The concern shown by these students is another great example of service in action here at this International Baccalaureate World School. Way to go Broncos!
