  • Central Elementary’s Instructional Leadership Team transformed into many characters from the works of Dr. Seuss and traveled to each classroom to share his wondrous stories. Students enjoyed short stories and reenactments throughout the day. Our celebration concluded with our annual Storybook Parade, with characters from popular stories like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Because of Winn Dixie, Pinkalicious and Mouse, and even nonfiction characters like sharks and penguins! It was a fantastically fun day!

  • Central Elementary hosted its Annual Literacy Night. Upon entering, students chose one book and followed their parents to various locations to learn comprehension strategies to use with their new books. Parents and students then “traveled” through Literacy Land to hear stories from Dr. Seussville, Fairy Tale Land, Land of Scary Stories and North of Nonfiction, where they learned about landforms and regional habitats. Travelers carried a Literacy Land passport, which was stamped upon leaving each land. When their passports were complete, they chose another book; thus, taking two brand new books home to add to their home libraries.
