  • Bernie Ponzio and her golden retriever therapy dog, Hopalong Cassidy, live in Grand Prairie and travel around to different locations to provide support and comfort to people of all ages. Cassidy was born without a heartbeat, but was able to be brought back to life with CPR from vets at Texas A&M. The breeder wanted to put Cassidy down because he was born without a front right paw. Without hesitation, Bernie adopted Cassidy and trained him to be a therapy dog. Good Elementary was lucky enough to get to meet Bernie & Cassidy. Cassidy has now learned to walk with a prosthetic leg. Bernie uses Cassidy as a platform to reach out to students with disabilities, special needs, or those that feel they don't quite fit in. Bernie says that Cassidy will go to schools and help students who have trouble reading and will sit and listen to them read. Cassidy is the sweetest dog and our students and staff could not get enough of him! Thank you for visiting Good Elementary, Bernie & Cassidy!

An online donation campaign was also set up so that parents and community members could go online and donate in the name of Barbara Bush Middle School. • At Barbara Bush Middle School, these IB students are caring and principled when it comes to giving to others. This group is called “Bronco Lead”, and they took it upon themselves to raise money for an Angel Tree. They collected donations ranging from pennies to $200 from their own family members, teachers and students, during lunch and morning tutorials. Together, they raised $600 to “adopt” eight needy students right here at Bush Middle School. Each student will receive books, clothing and a fun item that was on their wish list. The concern shown by these students is another great example of service in action here at this International Baccalaureate World School. Way to go Broncos!
