NOTICE
The GED testing center will be moving over the summer. At this time, the location and testing calendar are unavailble. Please keep checking the website for additional information.
The testing fees have also changed. The fee for taking all 5 tests is now $95 and the re-testing & re-scheduling fee is $30 per test. |

Requirements:
- 17 years of age or older *
- One valid form of identification from the list below:
- Texas Driver’s License
- Passport
- Military Identification Card or other Federal Government-issued Identification
- Texas Department of Public Safety Photo Identification Card
- Post secondary identification that includes name, date of birth, photograph, Texas address and signature
All identification must be current and show name, date of birth, photograph, Texas address and signature.
*Applicants age 17 are also required to have:
- An official TEA Parent/Guardian Consent Form
- Administration Withdrawal Form from the last school he/she attended

Applicants testing for the first time
All persons taking the GED for the first time must complete an online demographic form and attend orientation
Online Demographic Form All persons taking the GED for the first time are required to complete an online demographic form prior to registering to take the GED test. The GED Demographic Form is a method for GED test-takers to create their own online record in The University of Texas at Austin (UT) GED database.
Click on the University of Texas link below to start your own online demographic record as a GED test taker. This is a three (3) step process.
- Obtain a UT ID.
- Log on using the ID and complete the demographic form.
- Select your test center. The Mary Grimes Test Center number is 460368.

Orientation Mondays* at 8:30 (If there is space available, there will be an orientation at 10:00 a.m.)
- Required of all persons testing for the first time.
- Session takes 1 to 1 ½ hours.
- Registration is immediately after orientation.

Registration (All Test Applicants)
Mondays* at 8:30 a.m. (If there is space available, there will be a registration at 10:00 a.m.) *Except when Monday is a holiday. Check testing calendar.
- Test applicant must register in person
- Bring the required documentation and payment.
- No appointments taken.
Test Schedule:
- Tuesday:
- 8:30 a.m. - Mathmatics
- 11:00 a.m. - Language Arts, Writing
- Wednesday
- 8:30 a.m. - Science
- 10:30 a.m. - Social Studies
- 12:15 p.m. - Reading
Fees All fees must be paid at registration with a money order made out to: Mary Grimes GED Testing Center
- GED Test Battery (5 tests):
- Retesting
- Re-scheduling
Spanish Testing The GED Test is periodically administered in Spanish. Registration/orientation and test schedule are the same as those for the English test. Please check the calendar for the scheduled Spanish test dates.
Retesting:
- There is a 6 month waiting period prior to re-testing unless the person has been attending GED preparation classes and brings a signed letter from the authorized teacher stating that the person is prepared to test.
- No one may test more than 3 times in one year.
Re-scheduling:
- There a $20 fee for re-scheduling.
- Re-registration is required to re-schedule a test.
Test Results
The Texas Education Agency will mail the results/certificate directly to the examinee in approximately 3-4 weeks. Call the testing center if you do not receive your test results during this time period.
