Technology Internship Program
Mission Statement We dedicate all our efforts and resources to the education and preparation of all students for responsible, productive citizenship in a global society.
Introduction
The Technology Internship Program (TIP) is the result of a cooperative arrangement between the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce, and the Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce that provide students with business/industry experience as part of their high school curriculum. Qualified students are exposed to a unique combination of classroom instruction and placement in a technology work environment where they acquire new information, concepts, techniques and procedures related to career interests.
The Technology Internship Program objectives are formulated to meet the needs of Carrollton-Farmers Branch high school students and business community. These objectives serve as a guide for the TIP coordinator, sponsor and student in planning assignments, administering the program and evaluating its effectiveness. In addition to program objectives, each student determines his/her own personal objectives which aid the sponsor in providing a meaningful educational experience.
Key objectives of the program are as follows:
- Provide students with non-paid, on-the-job training that will enhance understanding of the knowledge, skills and procedures essential to specific careers in business and industry.
- Provide a weekly forum for students to share experiences, improve communication skills, foster maturity, and enhance confidence.
- Develop communication with post-secondary educational institutions that provides advanced training opportunities in selected career fields.
- Provide students with an understanding of the interaction between business and the community and the sponsor's role in company activities and community service.
